The local Walking School Bus program has restarted for spring and will continue through the end of the school year to give Dillon school children the option of enjoying an invigorating walk to school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays each week along two different routes. Saturday, May 19thMovie– A Wizard of Oz Sing-along will start at 10am at Big Sky Cinema. Come as you are or dressed as a character from the movie, with the best costume awarded a special prize. Tickets cost $10 per adult and $5 per child ages 4-17 ( with ages 0-3 admitted for free) and can be purchased in advance at The Bookstore or the Dillon Public Library. Saturday, May 19thFestival– The Southwest Montana Wine & Craft Beer Festival takes place 6-9pm at the Keltz Arena on the University of Montana Western campus. The event will feature live music by outstanding local guitarists Brent McCabe and Bill Dwyer, as well as fireworks show. For more information, call 406-683-7306.

Monday, May 28thParade– The 16th Annual Memorial Day Parade is set to start at 12:30 at the BW Lodge parking lot when wind its way through downtown, before ending at Big Sky Cinema. Sunday, June 3rdGolf– The Dillon Jaycee’s Annual Red, White & Blue Golf Scramble to raise funds for their Fourth of July Fireworks Display, tees off with a shotgun start at 9am at the Beaverhead Golf Club. Saturday, June 9thPoker Run– The Sixth Annual Poker Run sponsored by the Road Runners Bike Club will happen, starting with registration 8:30-10:30am at Mac’s Last Cast. Folks riding bikes, trikes, classic cars, trucks and vehicles of all varieties are welcome to join in the run, which will proceed from Mac’s to Chick’s Bar in Alder, to Willie’s Distillery in Ennis, to the Pony Bar in Pony, to the 2-Bit Saloon in Whitehall, to the Blue Anchor in Twin Bridges, to the last card draw at The Den in Dillon by 6pm. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place hands and a 5pm auction, as well as a 50/50 drawing and the awarding of door prizes will also take place as part of the event.
